Gumboot friday

  Gumboot Friday

Gumboot Friday is to help people think about mental health. Some people have a mind that's is not healthy. They might be unhappy. On gumboot Friday some people wear gumboots. This reminds people that some people don’t have a happy mind.

We wrote positive and helpful comments on a piece of cardboard and we put them in the people’s mail boxes. We wanted  the comments to make people happy. It worked. One lady sent a note to school to say what a lovely post. It made her feel very good.
Neeve thought of the idea.

This term at school we are talking about Hauora -  Wellbeing. This means being healthy in our body and our mind. Teachers and students wore gumboots on Friday, to raise money for the Gumboot day. This term we are looking at Hauora Wellbeing as our inquiry topic. When you have bad thought your body will not be healthy. It is important to look after your mind and your body.

Tread lightly caravan

This morning Waitemata went the Tread lightly caravan to learn about water pollution. First we were put in to four groups. First group stayed inside the classroom and learnt about wet lands and VR head set. The wet lands help to clean the muddy water. The wet lands also slows the flow of water to stop flooding the grounds. Next my group had to use maps to find all the in our school. After that my group went to the caravan. We learn that only rain goes in the drain. Water from sink and toilet goes in waste water treatment plant to get clean. I learnt that we should put rubbish in the correct bin or it will end up in the sea and fishes will die.
